I say this as a Duke fan that can finally breathe. I know we have a tourney thread, but wow, this was amazing. I've never seen anything like it. This was better than hitting a winning half court shot in game 7 of the finals. If you aren't into college basketball you have truly missed greatness.
No way the Lattaener shot was way better than this one. They only had 2.1 seconds and threw the ball 60 feet in the air to do it. Last night shot was good but 5 seconds was plenty of time to set the play up. Also if he misses they go to overtime. Laetenner misses they lose the game
Christian's shot was in the elite 8. Upon hitting or missing the shot neither team was guaranteed a championship. UNC/Nova - if Paige misses the pump 3, UNC goes home right there in front of Jordan. 4 seconds later, if Nova can't pull off something in 4 seconds - they almost certainly let a title slip away despite being up 10 (I don't think UNC loses in OT).
Agreed, especially since Houston was a prohibitive favorite and was thought to have an insurmountable lead.
Ive never watched the game but a few people mentioned it not being entertaining other than the ending. That may be wrong though. I thought the Nova/UNC game was good from beginning to end which kinda made the ending even better. I kept thinking UNC was going to make one of their runs and put it away but Nova kept fighting tooth and nail (especially against UNC's plethora of big men). Either way I'm glad it was entertaining because these championship games are boring when a team wins by a comfy margin...which seems to happen a lot.
It was a good game, but unfortunately I missed the last 8 minutes, having to do a give a guitar lesson over Skype. Definitely a fantastic finish, both teams competed.
