My first instinct is to say basketball. However, the average height of a basketball player is 6'7 - perhaps there are 50 guys just as athletic as your average NBA player but at 5'5-5'10 they are simply at too big of a size disadvantage. That also makes me wonder how incredibly athletic the guys that are relatively small must be to play at that level. For example, Muggsy Bouges, Spud Webb, JJ Barea, Nate Robinson, Isiah Thomas, etc. There are millions upon millions of guys the same size (or bigger) that all play basketball yet only a handful make it. Is it crazy to think someone like Bouges is more athletic than Michael Jordan or almost any athlete in the world? A serviceable/good 5'3 NBA player is probably equivalent to a 5'8 NFL quarterback. Imagine how athletic someone would need to be as a decent 5'8 QB....would need super human speed/arm strength/decision making, etc.

Question is somewhat vague. Sport with most athletic individuals would be basketball, IMO.

For the sport that is best for developing general physical and mental fitness, I would vote for cross country.

Cycling or cross-country skiing. They would crush stick and ball guys.

Tennis. Think Djokovic and Nadal.
