Van Niekirk has such a smooth and efficient stride, even when he's running at high speed, that I think if he wanted, he could train for it and set a new 800-meter record. In his 400-meter win, he showed no signs of becoming tired, even at the finish. He's not as heavily-built as many sprinters, which would be an advantage in longer races.

I'd be willing to bet that these track stars - I would bet that the doping in track and field is as pervasive as the Tour De France...In fact I'd be shocked if any of them were clean.

Then I guess that makes it an even playing field then huh?
Congratulations to Sophie hitchon today who got a bronze in the womens Hammer Throw, with the very last throw of the competition and breaking the British record. Not much to some maybe but she is our first ever Hammer thrower to get a medal.
She comes from Burnley,a place with a poor reputation.Nice to get its name in the papers for something good for a change.
I was watching the first rounds of the women's 200 meter sprint, and the starter delayed the start of one race because of the clapping noise one of the triple jumper's was egging on.
