If there is an olympic sport we must get rid of in the first place, it's amateur boxing. Absolutely embarrassing and ridiculous, and the worst thing is that it gives out tons of medals...

Then, we can discuss others...
Are you saying amateur boxing should be replaced with professional boxing?
Boxing gives out "tons of medals" because there are 10 men's weight classes, which is down from 12 in 2000. It has varied between 5 and 12 since 1904. I think the IOC can decide what the appropriate number of classifications should be.
Personally--I think they should revive a classic Olympics, with nothing but the sports that originally took place back in Ancient Greek times. This included horse riding, and chariot racing. Also pankration... a combo of boxing and wrestling, which sounds like a type of ultimate wrestling.
I agree with the OP. The bulk of the physical work is being done by the horse. Since the horses aren't standardized clones, the horse becomes a major variable of physicality that is being tested. It's as much a horse v horse competition, but the horses aren't on the medal podium. At least in horse racing, the winning horse gets a garland of flowers around its neck.

You control most part of the horse, but not all, that's true. But like the 10% you don't control is where the horse WANTS to do it for you because you're his pal. Which is something you can only accomplish by looooong days of training and having good knowledge of the horse's mind, and treat him right.
Second, when you compete on that level you need to be in excellent physical and mental condition.
Well there are quite a few sports that do not belong IMHO.
Equestrian is one of them but I would put others above that easily.
