I don't know for sprint.
But for marathon, I remember reading that kenyan and ethiopian people are naturally good on long distant running due to there morphology and the density of there muscules.

I don't think you will find a lot of study about this. Considering that if you admit that some people have more capacity in a fields. It's open to discussion if some people are also natural better in some other fields.

Anyway there is also a biais. You see a lot of Jamaican in sprint, also because the sport is probably popular there and due to doping practice. The jamaican federation had strange practice sometimes...
