I honestly thought Cilic wouldn't even get close to winning another slam. I basically considered him the Del Potro of 2014, if Del Potro was weaker mentally. I never disliked him really and I support Croatian players, after having been a big Ancic fan, but I thought him a one-slam wonder. Maybe he still will be. However, he may have turned a corner. He could have easily choked against Muller and against Querrey in the 4th set but battled back.

I still don't think he'll beat Federer but he does have a chance, anyway. Federer played well to stave off Berdych for a while but Berdych is not as good of a returner as Cilic.

Women's side, I really don't know. I'd normally say Venus but Muguruza has won a slam so it's not like she's afraid of the moment.

Terrible loss for Venus. I hope Roger wins tom. I hope Serena gets even w/ Spain & Murg for trouncing her sis V. I turned it off 1/2-way due to Murg & knowing her coach barks/cheats sh&t from the bench -- & ump lets it go. What a load of crap & conspiracy vs US, huh? It is no diff than the politics of NWO.

As bud once said, you got money you can do what you want. Conspiracy -- as in pay-off-judges/Wimbledon brass to allow such bogus play. I'm thru w/ Wimbledon if Rog' loses.

Well done to Murguruza, watched the replay only, she came home strongly.
Will be hoping Cilic can win tonight at Wimbledon (local time), he is one of the few players that will not be intimidated by Federer on the other side of the net, and can hit through anyone on his day.
Whether that will be enough, we will have to wait and see.

The other two wins, there will be a first time grand slam champion.
If he wins, he will no longer be a "one slam wonder", that many thought back in 2014, myself included.
However, he will not quite be in the same league as Stanimal, who has an extra Slam and has taken out the current Number 1 on all occasions to do it.

If he wins another slam, he will not be Stanimal, but he will be in the same league, just like Brown University is not Harvard, but in the same league.

Catching up to Federer's grand slam number is becoming near impossible now. Only Nadal can pull this off, but still very unlikely.

Congrats Swissyland & Rog on well done. I KNEW he'd do it despite any naysayers.

8 Wimbledon's? Unheard of! He sets precedents every time sets foot on a court. I hope it is likely to continue -- after his 6 mos. off again.

No conspiracy I can see. You see what you want I guess. I am sure all tennis coaches have hidden signals the players know whether it is speaking or not.
gets even? it is 1:1 Serena/Muguruza in slam finals now. Serena beat her in Wimb2015, Mug beat Serena in French 2016.
This is all on Venus. You should be mad at Venus for becoming Bernie Tomic and giving up in second set. I am. She intentionally hit groundies out on numerous points.
Serena will have a tough time coming back. There are no givens. Injuries creep in, like Madison Keys had, CoCo could finally breakthrough or Azarenka gets dominant. But yeah.... I'd bet on Serena too.

I was watching the Cilic match. When Cilic started to weep along the sidelines about halfway through the 2nd set, I knew it was over. I could see nothing wrong with him but yet I knew it was over. Crying in the middle of a sporting event is either a symptom, a problem, or both. For Cilic, it was probably both. If your foot hurts, you need to suck it up, look at it as something else to be overcome, and go out onto the court with extra determination. Injuries almost never improve someone's performance, but if the injury makes you cry, be it from pure pain, or disappointment, the injury has beaten you and you're done. That isn't really a criticism of Cilic. It is more an observation of what crying indicates as far as a player's ability to compete at that moment at the necessary levels.

95% of guys don't cry over a nagging injury in a championship match. It was not like he was an overwhelming favorite. It was kind of weird.
