Baseball, because it's a game based on continuous application of previous knowledge, strategy and planning, A manager, and his catcher, and everyone from there on down, has to consider both the opposition, and the options at the team's disposal -- which diminish as the game progresses.

The same can be said about American tackle football (described by pundit George Will as "spasms of mayhem punctuated by committee meetings"), but that option wasn't included in the poll.

Baseball, but only Dodgers games and college football when the Arkansas Razorbacks are playing.

Poll is pretty much invalid because of this major error.

Default NFL football, of course... what else is there?!

And the off-the-field goings-on can be as (or more) entertaining than the game itself... the draft, the contract squabbles, the petulant owners always wanting more $$ or fancier stadiums...

My pro football has slowly diminished to the point where it ended totally last year. Prefer the college game.

Baseball endures precisely because of the aspect of timelessness; below are a couple of links to a site dedicated to researching just about every aspect of the game -- minor as well as major league. One of my since-deceased high school classmates, who labored in the farm systems for ten years, but never tossed a pitch in the majors, is in there.

For you, Dave; it probably means more than a chunk of granite anyhow.

The National Pastime is a subject of infinite variety, and I never get tired of it -- or at least, stay tired of it for long.
