I've read that ratings for the season opener were down for the 4th straight year. I also saw pictures of several stadiums that looked to be 50% full. Last year the NFL blamed their ratings dip on the election so will Irma now get the blame for at least week 1?
Has the NFL finally reached peak saturation?
I think the hurricane situations had impact on viewers for NFL--although I know a Patriots fan in Sarasota who was glued to the screen despite Irma's threat...
Personally I was not really avid football fan--followed the Cowboys because live in DFW area
I can't take watching people bash themselves into a serious health condition just for spectacle...
And I really can't support the NFL who has done more than any agency/group to suppress accurate info about the concussion problem from head impact/injury...because it threatens their profit line...
The NFL doctors and admins and owners have concealed and lied about this issue seriously for a decade--
They didn't WANT to know the truth and certainly didn't want anyone else to know the finite damage a player's body can take....especially the players themselves...
They can do all the charity work and make donations to various organizations and claim they are bringing jobs and money into an area because so many people support and follow football teams but what do they say when that massive support dies out and the damages to players continues to make itself know???
I have boycotted them all my life. Is anything more boring than having a bunch of overgrown elephants knocking against each other while they hide the football.

Boycott insinuates a cause. You appeared just not to be interested /bored. That's different than a boycott.
I killed cable. I haven't gotten around to seeing if an over-the-air antenna works. I streamed 30 minutes of the Patriots Thursday night game to my iPhone while I was sitting on a train last week. I think I'll go on Amazon and buy an antenna.
I'm tired of the over officiating, and the increase in injuries.
This is probably a ridiculous idea with no chance of implementation, but I think the game would be a lot more interesting to watch with one less defender on the field. More offense, more gains, more scoring.
Here's an idea
No pads
No helmets
No contact
Go to flag football
See the grace of the game vs the beastly physicality
Revenue drops
Viewers drop
Because people are there for violence -- brutality, pounding, testosterone
Not boycotting, but I'm getting sick of constant Colin Kaepernick news. The guy lost his starting job to Blaine Gabbert. That should be the end of the conversation. Hell I'd rather listen to the talking heads slobber over Brady 24/7 (which they do a lot of the time anyways but still), at least he is still playing.
And then regained it after Gabbert posted these stats in 6 games last year:
Kaepernick then regained the starting job and had a QB rating over 90 and a TD: INT ratio of 16:4 for the rest of the season, for what was otherwise a very bad team.
But Gabbert is on an NFL roster and Kaepernick isn't.
11 minutes of actual game 'action' during a 3+ hour NFL telecast. I heard that commercials were supposed to be reduced this year (slightly, anyway), but didn't notice much of a difference while watching the Bills play in week one. I used to spend entire Sundays watching the NFL but will probably only endure Bills games this year
I am not boycotting but my interest is waning. The whole injury thing is a big turn-off for me - young guys who are sacrificing their bodies for a few years of good money, all for the enjoyment of fans. I am starting to feel guilty watching games. And as other posters have said, the game is too dependent upon officiating and a mistake can throw the game the other way.
