American Football, sorry to all you Americans, theres a fair bit i like about your country, but American Football is AWFUL.Stop and start every 10 seconds.Id rather watch paint dry.
Marginally worse is golf, probably the worst sport ever invented.Tedious and boring to watch, never mind ever meeting anyone who plays this awful game.
Id go for Formula 1 Motor Racing as well. Its like watching traffic.I can look out of the window and do that
There are sports that just don't make for good television. Cycling is one of those, and I'm someone who cycled a lot in his prime. Mind you, I'm talking about the Tour de France vs. Velodrome events, which are more of a chess game.
Cricket is a game I just don't understand the appeal on TV. I was in New Zealand once and stopped in a pub for a bite. New Zealand was playing West Australia. "Oh, this is interesting," I thought. So I watched for about thirty minutes, got up and left to drive to my destination. The next day, different town, I stop in for a bite to eat, and the same two teams were playing. "Oh, is this a replay?" I asked. The barkeep looked at me as if I were daft. "No. It's the same game." Then he took pity on me as an American and explained how there were breaks for lunch and the whatnot. All that being said, my BIL is a Brit and loves cricket.
I don't understand people harshing on soccer. Hey, it's not my sport, but I've seen interesting games.
Test Match in Cricket can last 5 days. There is One Day match version of Cricket and also T20 Cricket which can finish in 4 hours.
Amen to what you said, that this poll only should cover the more heavily televised sports. I NEVER see Curling on TV, other than during the Winter Olympics. Thanks for the reminder in my mind that it is coming up soon in early 2018, since I always enjoyed watching Curling during whenever the Winter Olympics air every 4 years. As for Frisbee, I don't think I've ever seen it televised, even on the more obscure ESPN channels(i.e. ESPN2, Classic, ESPN News, ESPN U, etc). And that also includes the various other more obscure sports cable channels like Fox Sports 1, NBC Sports ___, etc. I voted for golf and NASCAR for this poll, btw.
I don't mind watching soccer, but to each their own. I think enjoying soccer on TV, is an acquired taste that does not happen right away. I have to say as someone who has watched Premier League Soccer games in England for all these years, I can only imagine how WAY more enjoyable actually attending a Premier League game at one of those British stadiums has to be, over watching it on TV. The funny chants the fans come up with, how much they get into the game, etc. It's definitely a MUST DO goal for me(attending a Premier League game), if I ever get to the UK or Wales. Never understood why Scotland doesn't have at least a few Premier League teams, though. Maybe they have their own league that's less talked about, and also less televised for all I know? I also don't mind watching baseball, and you are right that attending an MLB game at one of those 30ish stadiums is more fun vs. watching on TV. Never mind a few of those stadiums are kinda more on the blah side, such as Oakland or Tampa's stadiums.
Or as a few people have jokingly said, if you like watching left turns a few hundred times! You're right about golf, at least they don't talk in an annoying manner vs. the announcers of certain sports events. I just don't know why I can't get excited about golf, as much as I have infrequently tried to watch that over the years when others were watching golf.
Scotland have their own league. Their clubs Rangers, Celtic from Glasgow are world famous. FIFA consider Scotland as a separate member from England. Wales clubs though participate in English Premier league.
I'd say NASCAR, cricket and golf, in that order. Golf's saving grace is that they usually cut between several players' shots at once to keep it semi-interesting.
The choices should have been narrower. Some of them are rarely even seen on TV.
The thing is, if you don't like something, no matter what it is, it will be boring to you. Not everyone has the same tastes. Generally speaking, you just can't say that one thing is more boring than something else.
Which sports do you think are boring to watch on television?
I'm going for soccer. It's so boring because it's very low scoring. Ice Hockey is the same reason though I might watch the NHL playoffs if they air it. I'd much rather watch rugby than soccer for sure. I'm also going for tennis outside Wimbledon, Australian Open, French Open, and U.S. Open along with gymnastics, cycling, swimming, and cricket.
only thing wrong with the poll: there are really too many choices, some of those sports we never see on TV or wouldn't watch it they were on. I did vote for Tennis but it is a toss up between tennis and golf.
