Budlight.

Baseball is the only "sport " where players........eat throughout the game on the bench, fall asleep in the bull pen, listen to music on headphones in the dugout, and scratch their genitals in front of 35,000 spectators.

XXX.

nascar and soccer.
I think it was carlin who said nascar is a bunch of rednecks going around in a circle at 200 mph.

soccer is too simple of a game to interest most people in america.I tried, it a bunch of sweaty guys in tacky uniform kicking a ball around for an hour and half.its not interesting the first time its not interesting the 50th time it happens.

golf is boring to watch but so much of it is being outdoors in the sun and enjoying the beautiful surroundings, something you just cant appreciate in tv.

Except that it really isn't. It is MUCH MORE complex than you would think when you really get into it. Formations change based on tactics and teams being played against, for instance, which drastically alters the types of plays involved.

It's kind of like hockey in a sense: to the outsider, it's a bunch of burly dudes on skates smashing each other into boards trying to get a frozen rubber puck into a net. But deep down there is lots of complexity that only those who have either played at competitive levels or studied it will understand.

The fact that most of the world enjoys football (soccer) the most suggest that it could be that people in America (by that the US and Canada only) are too 'simple' to enjoy it? :-D

I didn't see it in the poll but I would like to nominate Poker. ESPN around 2005 had a fixation with poker for some reason, even ESPN Classic was airing World Series of Poker events from the 90's. How anyone found that entertaining baffles me.

I've never sat down and watched a majority of these (Aussie Rules, Fencing, Cricket etc.) so no comment. Golf, NASCAR, and some variations of Soccer (La Liga, English Premiere League) don't interest me.

I think with a lot of these outdoor events like Golf and Cycling, part of the viewing interest is also focused on the surroundings like the French countryside for the Tour De France and the lush green grass from The Masters. At least thats how my father and his father enjoyed watching these two events.

I'm guessing that the term "sports" needs to totally be redefined at some point!

not really, you never have to explain soccer to anyone, just watch it for a minute and you get it, just try explaining baseball or american football to a european and watch their eyes start to spin in their heads.
