It seems as if she's frustrated that she's aging out of play at this level. She has had a good run with many wins. She could switch to playing doubles like Navratilova did around the same age.
I wonder if we are beginning to witness the end of Serena and Venus being in their prime.
Venus has been out of her prime for some time. (she has not won a Major in over 10 years, Wimbledon 2008)
On the OP, the fine is chickenfeed for her, but at least it makes an example for abusing an Umpire in particular.
This outburst by Serena was disgusting. She blamed it on sexism, racism, the usual complaints, but in reality it was because she overreacted to something that was nothing more than an innocuous warning.
When she was warned about the coaching, she could have just said "sorry, didn't notice it, I'll make sure it doesn't happen again" and moved on with her life. She probably would have still lost as she was clearly getting outplayed, but it would have been with dignity.
Instead, she went the disgusting route, smashing a racquet then insulting the chair umpire. Could have been a classy role model, but instead chose to be someone who I really hope my girls don't learn anything from.
I just hate the way the media is embracing her childish behavior and treating her like she is a hero.
The umpire Ramos warned Venus and her coach of the same thing in 2016; that is, being coached from the stands. You would think Serena and her coach would be "sensitive" to the fact that Ramos is not afraid to call it when he sees it. Serena's coach admittedly tried to coach her from the stands. Whether she saw it or not is irrelevant. The sheer arrogance of openly flaunting the rules with the weak excuse put forth by her coach that "everyone else does it". I agree with NYC above. Serena should just have acknowledged it and moved on, but no, she went off the deep end. She should have forfeited the match.

Sadly, this is typical now. Instead of behaving properly because its the right thing to do, lets just all complain that nothing is fair. Boo hoo hoo.
The guys shouldn't be allowed to abuse the rules nor should the girls.

Until they ban coaches and coaching staff from the stadiums, covert hand signals and cryptic coaching messages will continue to go on.
Serena's coach was actually correct on this one.
