Well, back to the hard courts of the USO summer series, culminating in the USO in NY.
Currently on is the Citi Open in Washington DC, which is a 500 for the Mens and WTA international tournament.
After that we head to the Masters series, with the Canada Open and Cincinnati W&S Opens.
At this stage of the Big 3, Djoker and Federer are not playing Canada.

Stunning performance by showman Nick Kyrgios, in defeating Greek Stafanos Tsitsipas in Washington.
Sets up a final against Russian Daniil Medvedev tomorrow.
Womens final will be between Italian Camila Giorgi and American Jessica Pegula.

Nadal has won the Canada Masters in Montreal, and defended his title from last year:

He has also just announced he will not play the Cincinnati Masters.
Ironically Djoker and Federer did not play Canada, but will play Cincy.

Aussie Nick Kyrgios, assuming the villain role as normal, this time has unleashed and gone too far at the Cincinnati Masters:

Well done to Madison Keys and Daniil Medvedev, on winning the Cincy titles in the WTA and ATP respectively.
Both first time winners at Premier 5 and Masters levels.

Medvedev is the real deal and is looking like a serious contender in future Grand Slams. Djokovic was helpless against Medvedev's serves Saturday.

Medvedev isn't good enough to beat Rafa/Federer in best-of-3-sets, let alone best-of-5!
Medvedev got annihilated this year.

Rafa beat Medvedev 63 60.
Federer beat Medvedev 64 62.

Young stars such as Medvedev enjoy playing Djokovic, because Djokovic often plays very timid tennis, so can be bossed around.
But Djokovic of course plays more aggressively at the slams, when required, so I doubt Medvedev would beat Djokovic at a slam.

If Medevedev's serve is on, like it was the other rnight, he is good enough to beat any of the "Big Three" at any event. Djokovic and Federer in recent times have been inconsistent, even if they still obviously are the best bets in Nw York starting next week.

Its hard to take Federer seriously at the US Open, especially if its as slow as last year.
Heck, Federer couldn't even win it when it was faster....
Federer hasn't won it since 2008, while Nadal has won 3 US Opens since 2010, despite not even playing in 2012 and 2014 and retiring in 2018 semi-final.
I doubt anyone that relies on their serve will win the US Open, if its as slow as last year.
