I was thinking maybe local drag racing. You have social distancing and top drivers don't have to travel.

Singles tennis. I thought that many top players came from the same tennis academies so again no travel to the venue.

Match golf by local pros. The groundskeepers/gardeners are considered essential workers in my city. We must trim for fire safety and vector control. So two guys and a camera in a very large space and you have a match.

Any other ideals?

I could set up a camera in my garage and show everyone how I can hit flies out of the air with darts.

A few days ago a police helicopter was sent to warn off and clear out a skateboard park and later obstacles were placed in it by our city. But a local X Games does work.

Individual pursuit bike racing or the time trial stages of road bike racing.

it isnt the competition, but rather the fans in the arena that is the concern. if i were much younger, and had been able to play the sports i like professionally, i would not have cared if there were crowds in the stands or not, as i played the games i loved.

but there are a number of professional players that want the fans in the stand cheering them on, and would rather not play the game if there were no fans.

That is the theatre versus movie actor argument. And many top athletes frankly don't need the money so without the adoration they don't come out. But then those on the lower level like the "sports entertainment" wrestlers are at a different level. The mid ranked tennis pro, the small dirt track racer all types that used to show up on Wide World of Sports once a year may provide distraction.

I remember in the years before cable and dedicated sports networks a local Los Angeles station would broadcast local dirt track racing from Ascot track in Gardena CA. No big names but socially distant racing for that fan who only saw the Daytona 500, Indy and the Grand Prix of Monaco on the big networks
