Speak for yourselves. From an entertainment standpoint I am definitely missing World Superbike. From a participation standpoint though I'm really really missing my trackdays. I've spent a lot of time and money getting my motorcycle ready for the track and now it just sits in the garage and gives me dirty looks every time I go out there.
I'm missing the cancelled sports (especially NHL & March Madness).. but I agree, it is a meaningless pastime.
I'm not missing the commentators.. I wish televised sports would return to the old paradigm. U turned on a football game, 2 guys introduced the game, they kicked off & played. And then almost no analysis afterwards.. but I understand the (spectator) market is a lot different now..
Still feel radio is the ideal medium for the stupid & pointless arguing & Monday morning quarterbacking. U listen to it for a few minutes on your commute, & that's a rap. Not 24 hours of televised (social justice commentary/propaganda disguised as) sports talk.
Sports will never go back to the old ways, because players are paid too much. To pay the players and the newer stadiums, you need the analysis and everything else that goes with it. It's a way for the league to monetize on these other options, which helps support the salaries of players. Players have marketed themselves and have realized without us, there's no you.
I do miss the Baseball News, I miss not being able to go to a Minor league game on a Friday night with my Kids. That being said, as a healthcare provider, I have very little downtime right now. I currently work 6 or sometimes 7 days a week and would not have time to follow much on TV anyway
What I also miss though,is the commentary on this forum when a season is in progress. We have several people here who are more insightful as to the games being played, who actually see the "big picture" so to speak, who can make a better analysis on the game than the Talking heads on ESPN or USA SPorts.
If anything, I miss the "talking heads" on this forum. And you know who you are.

It's happened in every sports league.
Players are paid based on market value. Good old capitalism.
Everyday people who go to the park to play sports like basketball, volleyball, soccer and etc. certainly miss it. As for college ball, I missed March Madness and all the hoopla. Cancellation of the Summer Olympics in Tokyo is also a bummer. Now, I mainly watch College and NFL football so I'm hoping the games will be played.

The sports I watch and enjoy are college level: Football, baseball, softball and basketball. I follow some pro sports but I find NCAA much more enjoyable and I miss them. I'd much rather watch a college game than another week of "The Voice" or whatever else is on network tv.
The sports world is also struggling to adjust as well. They aren't designed to pivot like they are. The HORSE challenge they had was just about unwatchable. However, I did read that I tuned in at the worst possible time between (Trae Young and Chauncey Billups). I watched a couple minutes, changed the channel, and never went back. Video was way too grainy. If the product is going to look that bad, I'm just not interested, and that's for any type of programming. I'm not asking for hi-def during these times, but something better than what was presented last night. I would think this challenge was a failure for them.
However, I can say that ESPN is trying to provide us with some form of sports that's "live." What I've enjoyed actually is RedZone on the NFL Network. It's old footage, but it's been great background noise for 30 minutes just to get a little taste.
I did watch some of the 2k tournament though. I've never played a 2k title, but I did find the athletes playing with their favorites teams fun (and I liked that they typically didn't pick the team they currently played for).
Never enjoyed a year of sports more ! Especially baseball, same game, same plays, same boring, slow action. They could re-broadcast games from any year and it wouldn't matter. Only the names have changed. It's just a shame that they give these talking heads any time at all to discuss what isn't happening. Don't miss it, never will.
What we see here is sports have had a zero impact on our personal lives.
Perhaps for you it is, but my date for live baseball and dinner is on hold.
We were supposed to go for her birthday.
