In terms of the level of tennis, there isn't much difference when you remove Djokovic from the draw.
Because in the Cincinnati Masters (which took place in New York this time), Roberto Bautista Agut pushed Djokovic to a 3rd Set tiebreaker in the SF, and Raonic breadsticked Djokovic in the 1st Set of the Final.
There was no difference between the level of tennis those guys were playing, just that Djokovic handled the pressure better at the very end.
And here at the US Open when Djokovic was disqualified he was down a break in the 1st Set (5-6).
He's obviously been winning his matches this year but he was down 2-sets-to-1 in the Australian Open Final, and he was down multiple match points in the 2nd Set of his Dubai match with Monfils.
Nothing has come easy, and the tour is clearly extremely close at the top.
Old news now, but even as a Djoker fan, the decision was correct and there was no other alternative.
Hopefully Nole can move on for this, and be at his best for the clay court season.
Good luck to both men in tomorrow's final, I think Dominic Thiem will win it.

Them should win in 4 sets tops. Zverev, while he has played better, still makes me shake my head at his erratic tendencies during the course of this tournament. Obviously he escaped having to play Djokovic and in a normal setup with everyone competing, I can’t see him as having gotten as far as the quarterfinals. Thiem has massively improved on the hard court and really stamped the exclamation point with his performance the other night against Medvedev.
Zverev is in peak physical condition, looks totally fresh despite playing the 5 sets, I think Ferrer is the perfect coach.
Thiem looked very tired and a little injured, so it will be interesting, and so was their AO semi-final this year which Thiem won 36 64 76(3) 76(4).
Amazing match. Crazy how many times in the 5th set and in the tie breaker, each player able to find a little extra and immediately get back the break they just lost previously. Kudos to Thiem for finally capturing his first Grand Slam. And despite losing after being up 2 sets plus a break, congrats to Zverev- he showed me something many thought he was lacking since becoming a perceived threat to the Big 3.
