I'm so sick of seeing Nadal lose AO Finals (won 2009, but lost 2012, 2014, 2017, 2019), please let Nadal win this please!1

Amazing how Collins botched up the second set. Couldn’t break and could hold serve anymore. Thus, Barty became the AO champion of 2022. Like I said, Barty is the only consistently good player on the female’s side and she deserved this victory!

Nah, I want Medvedev to win and hope he aims for a calendar year grand slam!

10 1/2 hours until the final starts.

If I think I can stay awake, I may subscribe to ESPN plus for a month in order to watch it .

Go Rafa !!!!!

Patrick McEnroe doesn't think so (re an interview since the final became set).

ESPN Plus is great. They show every match live and on demand after it’s over. Way better than watching this on cable TV, which only shows select matches.

For how long ?

IOW, if I had it for a month, could I go back and watch those matches over the course of a month?

I'm assuming they wouldn't televise every match. Is it the round of 16 and forward? The quarters and forward?

Med is only a contender on hardcourt, so just let Nadal win the AO if you want someone to aim for the calendar year grand slam!
Nadal has won Wimbledon twice (and lost the final in 2006, 2007 and 2011) and only lost to Djokovic 10-8 5th Set in 2018 Wimbledon SF.
So Nadal has a legit chance at winning Roland Garros (duh) and Wimbledon, plus he won the US Open the last time he played it (2019) and has won US Open 4 times (despite not playing 2012, 2014, 2020 and 2021).

I've never seen a commentator dislike Nadal more than Patrick McEnroe.
He's probably been burnt 20 times! Or at least he's usually tipped against Nadal.
But in this case they have to tip Medvedev, because tennis will look awfully weak if a 35.5-year-old beats the best hardcourter in the world!
Especially when that 35.5-year-old doesn't even call hardcourt his best surface....

It seems like men's tennis and women's tennis have passed each other in the night.

It used to be in women's tennis for a good 5+ the Williams sister and more so Serena was the talk of the town, and while there were some challengers who could get her once in a while (Caroline Wozniacki, Sam Stosur, Karolina Plishkova, Petra Kvitova) it was a good bet Serena would walk away with at minimum 2 of the 4 Grand Slam's at the end of the year. While the men still had the big 3 of Rafa/Roger/Novak, there was more parity among the men, more that could challenge the top than the women's side.

Now ever since Serena left for childbirth in 2019 it's been the complete opposite. Simona Halep then and Ashleigh Barty now are at the top, but there's a lot more parity among the women, there's hardly a player winning two majors in a calendar year yet alone 3 or a calendar grand slam. For how good Barty has been for the last 18 months, this Australian Open final was only the 3rd Grand Slam she's won after 2021 Wimbledon & the 2019 French Open. Meanwhile on the men's side it's become like watching the ladies in prime Serena territory. Rafa/Roger/and Novak are all over 30, Rafa & Roger have injury problems, and all are overwhelming favorites to win the 4 majors. Where did this parity go??
