Med is only a contender on hardcourt, so just let Nadal win the AO if you want someone to aim for the calendar year grand slam!
Nadal has won Wimbledon twice (and lost the final in 2006, 2007 and 2011) and only lost to Djokovic 10-8 5th Set in 2018 Wimbledon SF.
So Nadal has a legit chance at winning Roland Garros (duh) and Wimbledon, plus he won the US Open the last time he played it (2019) and has won US Open 4 times (despite not playing 2012, 2014, 2020 and 2021).
Yeah, that’s the thing. And Medvedev is a beast on hard court too.
I guess our real chance of a calendar year grand slam is Barty. She’s great on all courts and the way it is looking now, she’s headed for a very good season. So I wouldn’t be surprised if she makes it all the way.
Rafa was up 5-3 and one break, then 13-14 minute game nine where he loses on the fifth break point after only one set point.
Then both hold.
6-5 Rafa going into game twelve, and Medvedev holds.
6 all.
