He is 4th after he and Brady were demoted by Messi today

Brady is third since he has 7 rings compared to Jordan's 6

Messi is second since Foootballllll is most important sport

and Gretzky is first because no one was more dominant

Plus all of those guys are far beyond their rivals in their sport while Jordan has too many close to him accolade wise.

Pointless listing if there ever was one... Even in the football category, Messi isn't as good as Maradona, Pele or the "original" Ronaldo (Luiz Nazario de Lima)

^^^^Agreed! First off, sounds like a Jordan hater. Secondly, subjective at best. Where is Michael Schumacher in F1? If I was a F1 fanboy, I would put Schumacher #1 or Nicholas in golf. I could go on and on.

And the Messi/Cristiano debate is still a valid one.

I grew up loving Jordan. Though I have grown to dislike the argument for him because others are quickly disregarded (even his teammates). Furthermore, I think individual sports athletes are disregarded too.

I think the following are ahead or very close to MJ: Kareem, Magic, Ali, Messi, Pele, Bill Russell, Joe Louis, Sugar Ray, Barry Sanders, Jim Brown, I could think of more. Bottom line, I agree that MJ falls.

Abdul-Jabbar is actually my choice for GOAT.

You can’t compare different sports
And most people around the World recognize Jordan as the greatest athlete to play a team sport

About Messi, now there’s a debate of who was the greatest between Pele, Maradona and Messi
But keep in mind, Messi still has not retired and here’s a list of his records

Here’s just a comparison between Messi and Maradona

Nonsense. Jordan revolutionized sports globally. He was a once in a generation player. Beyond the stats, he inspired basketball players globally, and helped transform basketball into a globally played sport.

I think to have this conversation, you'd have to define what you mean by "athlete".
Jordan is one of the greatest basketball players ever. Brady is one of the greatest NFL players ever.

That said - one can argue that as good as Brady is on the football field, it doesn't necessary make him the greatest "athlete".

Perhaps most successful/accomplished in their sport?
