What is the best sung RECURRING anthem or patriotic song (live and/or recorded) in Noth America over the last 50 years?

Contenders include the following:

1. Robert Merrill version of Star Spangled Banner before Yankee Games
2. Ronan Tynan version of God Bless America at Yankee games after 9/11
3. Kate Smith version of God Bless America before big Philadelphia Flyers games
4. Roger Doucet version of O’ Canada before Montreal Canadiens games
5. Other (specify)

Ladies' night at Cardinals games, when 40,000 sopranos belt out "Meet Me in St. Louie". Some would argue that it's not patriotic.

Gladys Gooding played the organ for Dodgers, Knicks and Rangers.

Wayne Messner deserves a mention for Chicago.

You're obviously not counting the Black Hawks game in Chicago after the US invaded Kuwait.

Trivia factoid -- A young Joe Garagiola's wife was the Sporrtsmen's Park organist early in his career with the Cardinals.

Sports purist will likely scoff at this one since it's wrestling, but I'm going with Lilian Garcia at WWF Smack Down wrestling show on 9/13/2001 in Houston, Texas. I felt it was way to soon to be having any type of event after 9/11 but you can't deny this was a beautiful rendition of the national anthem. Her emphasis on "that our flag was still there!!" was just incredible!

^Very good version! My pick is Whitney Houston's version of the national anthem in Super Bowl XXV.

I'm not a big Whitney Houston fan, but I have NEVER heard a more powerful, inspiring rendition of the national anthem than when she performed it.

Yeah the thing about her is that she was such a natural. Never even looked like she was trying. In that particular performance, it almost looks like she just rolled out of bed, was called one morning to perform the very same day, and just showed up, no preparations, sang, and left. Stunning.

Looking at the posts - I guess most overlooked the "recurring" part of the question.
But perhaps, there really isn't that much? I personally don't even know of any...

With what others have included, I'll throw in Marvin Gaye's rendition during the NBA All-star game in the early 1980s. I know there's a lot of flack because he sort of put his own vibe on it... but I like it!!
