2001 Seattle Mariners
2007 New England Patriots
2015-16 Golden St Warriors
2022-23 Boston Bruins

Think it had to be the Patriots to have their ONLY loss that year to happen in the Super Bowl

2015/2016 Warriors.

73-9 record is crazy to think about, especially in the NBA when you have the team doing load management & resting starters, playing back to back games, etc. Plus when you play 82 games, it's easy to lose focus or get lazy. It's nothing like the NFL where you have a whole week off between games to rest & refocus.

(Side note, this is why I have LeBron as the GOAT, because he was down 3-1 against the greatest team ever assembled, & led his team back.)

Add the 2022-23 Boston Celtics

Boston sports fans must be reeling. The Red Sox are not doing well either.

I'm not mad at anyone who chooses either the Patriots or the Warriors. I would give the slightest of edges to the New England Patriots. Yes, GSW had the stacked roster, but at least Cleveland had their own all time great in Lebron, Kyrie was also a star, and Kevin Love was no slouch. Who exactly did the Giants have to match up to peak Brady and Moss? Strahan was in his last season, past his prime. It's going to be touch and go as to whether Eli makes the HOF. That should tell you just how massive the gap was between the two teams. New York shouldnt have had a snowball's chance in hell of even staying on the field with New England.

The Giants' 4-man pass rush got through time after time........scheme won. In football it frequently is more important than raw talent across the entire roster. Few people remember the Giants almost beat them in the regular season too, so it was no fluke; they matched up well against that Patriots' team.

Tyree's helmet catch didn't hurt either.

The '98 Vikings were the best team in the league, then their kicker who didn't miss all year missed a late FG that would have put them in the Super Bowl. We were denied watching that team vs. Elway in the Super Bowl, still bitter about that.

Me too. I remember watching that game. Gary Anderson was the kicker. The Falcons put up no resistance to Broncos.

The 1984 Miami Dolphins, close but no cigar.

Finished 14-2, losing to the 49ers in the Super Bowl.

Dan Marino threw for over 5,000 yards and had 48 TD passes while the team scored more than 500 points for the season (still a record).

Of all the let downs by the Vikings, and they're too many to note, THIS one was the worst. It has to rank as the biggest choke in pro sports history. Even more so than Bill Buckner allowing that slow ground ball to trickle between his legs for the Red Sox.

Oh, incidentally, the laces WERE out.
