That womens final in Madrid was such a good match.

Pretty cool for Korda to get doubles title.

Been following Rafa enthusiastically since he was a teenager. Roland Garros is his court. Won't mind a loss to a younger player, but if it's to the Djoker would be pretty hard to take. Rather he didn't play at all.

Well, Rafa is out - lost to Zverev in the first round in three sets. Tough opponent that early in the tourney. Time to hang it up, I think, but Rafa says he isn't sure, yet.

You know, I am passionate about sport, I am passionate about competition. I like to practice, I like to play tennis. I’m in a different moment of my personal life too, traveling with my son, wife, you know. I am enjoying these moments that will not come back. So if I keep enjoying doing what I am doing and I feel myself competitive and healthy enough to enjoy, I want to keep going for a while.

Nadal loses in first round at French Open. Could be his last.

Sad to see, but father time remains undefeated. Djokovic is winding down too, it's been a rough season so far for him.

Nadal's game looked significantly sharper and less error-prone in this 1st Round match than at 2022 RG semi-final.
Zverev's game also looked sharper this time, and of course 2022 was plagued by humid conditions.
Nadal is definitely playing well enough to repeat his 2022 Wimbledon where he won 5 matches before withdrawing.
And with Sinner/Alcaraz barely healthy enough to attend tournaments, and Djokovic playing the worst tennis of his career, this is Nadal's Wimbledon.
Also good to hear he's considering returning next year...

Probably won't play Wimbledon:
Quote:
“My body has been a jungle for two years. You don’t know what to expect,” Nadal said. “I wake up one day and I (felt like I had) a snake biting me. Another day, a tiger.”

While Nadal said it’s doubtful he’ll enter Wimbledon, which he won twice and starts on July 1, he did note he hopes to return to Roland Garros later that month, when the Olympics’ tennis competition will be at the French Open site.

Alcaraz looking like a genuine contender now too, after seeing off Korda.
I thought he’d be too undercooked for this RG, but not so.
Most of the major seeds still there and a very wide open tournament in the men’s draw.
In the women’s Iga Swiatek is still the one to beat at this event.
