Without going to far off topic from the OP; Nashville has as many "fans" in the seats as most NHL teams. Nashville does not have the corportate support for the Predators that most sucessful sports franchises have. Hockey is growing in popularity in Nashville; youth leagues are popping up; new facilities are being built to cater to the new demand in hockey, Vandy and MTSU both have strong club hockey teams; there are other stories such as these that flag growing interest in hockey in the Nashville area but I don't have the time to list them all.
The sport of hockey, that game many elistist northern fans don't want to share with the south, is growing in popularity in Nashville. You ( not you specifically, you as in the northern hockey fan) can rip apart the market at every opportunity if you want; but it really just shows your ignorance. The reason the Preds were at risk of being moved had more to do with corporate support and small market economics. There were huge rallies in Nashville from the fans and media trying to save the Preds from being moved. The fans banded together to launch season ticket drives to prevent the team from being able to break its lease. The fans had to band together, because the corporate support has not been there. With a new regime coming; the hope is that they will do a better job reaching out to the Nashville business community. The previous administration used more coersion to reach out to the business community; this almost never works in the corporate world.

Nashville is a target for attendance talk simply because of financial struggles. People assume that means they garner no interest. There are a handful of teams which excite people mush less than the Preds. Mismanagement is not the fault of loving fans.

I can list a lot of reasons why I think Bud Selig is the worst. But I just go back to the 2002 all star game where the game went into extra innings, the game wasn't finished, and the players were pulled off the field. This city was his stomping grounds.
The fans responded with resounding booing and threw trash and plastic beer bottles on the field for several minutes. And it was captured on telvision, all of it. Disgusting!

And then to come back with the idea of having the winner of an exhibition game, get home field advantage in the world series?
However, I don't think MLB is fixed, I cannot put that past the NBA at times, though.
That's why Stern is the "loser" (or winner, depending on how you look at it) in this poll.

I wanted to bring this thread up again. As much as I hate to say it, I do wonder if Gary Buttman is the worst commissioner (or the slimiest) out of the big 4? Well, seeing how Stern and him are almost joined at the hip, it has to be one of these two, eh?

Robert "Gestapo" Goddell. Just beacause the NFL is successful doesn't mean he is to thank for that.
