USA won the most medals of any country - 37. But Canada won more golds -14, v. the USA's 9 - then anyone else but only 26 total medals.

So who gets bragging rights that they "won" the Winter Olympics - USA or Canada?

I'm certainly proud of what our American athletes achieved. But Canada is definitely a winner in my book! A great host country. I can honestly say that this is one of the best and most entertaining Winter Olympics I've ever watched.

United States. More total medals and if you give points for Gold (3), Silver (2) and Bronze (1), US wins there too.

I agree. Great olympics. I think I watched several hours every day of the games!

There's no points for medals.

It is ridiculous to say that the US won.
So if China had won 0 gold, 0 silver and 40 bronze, would they be the winners of the Olympics?

The winner is the country that wins the most gold = Canada

The Olympics is not about declaring one "winner".

It's about fellowship and doing the best that you can in a peaceful manner outside the bounds of war and strife.

I can't imagine people thinking that any one country "won". That is ridiculous.

Ok so if the US wins 36 medals, and 5 are gold and Canada wins 6 medals total but all are gold they win? Yeah thats great logic. GW Bush must be teaching down there in Texas!

Claiming that the most Gold makes you the "Winner", is simply a cute way of covering up the immense disaster that the arrogant "Own The Podium" policy was. They only started racking up Golds when the short-track officials began making garbage calls in favor of the host Nation. It was political pressure at its finest.

Wow, sore losers always blame the officials. The real winners were all of us that witnessed these great athletes from every one of these countries give everything they had...In my book it was one of the most entertaining games ever...I may need withdrawal therapy!

By the way the own the podium thing was just a funding program for Canadian athletes.....Not the name I would have chosen, but it is what it is..
Own the Podium - Funding (http://www.ownthepodium2010.com/Funding/ - broken link)

As far as I'm concerned we are all winners here.

I voted for those silly Canucks even though I'm still bitter about the hockey result. The Canadians put on a great Olympics...very fun two weeks!
