The US Open for tennis is the most attended sporting event in the world, ever. Soccer is by far the most popular, with tennis and cricket coming in a close second.

Link? Would be interesting to see the figures, considering the amount of days they play, I can defiantly see it happening

Basketball may be the world's undisputed #2 sport before long. It's found everywhere except maybe South Asia.

American football is gaining popularity in Europe (there have been interviews from at least one Paris radio host of both recent Texas Tech coaches). It's also popular in Mexico, so that may translate to future gains in other parts of Latin America. It may be far from reaching top 4 or 5 status, but the last Super Bowl may have created some new interest because of the team that won.

If it was easier for people to understand then no doubt it would be more popular, for a random Joe Blog's its a hard game to understand with all the plays, it comes natural to American's.

Also if they cut the ads out of it, it would be much easier to watch, although watching it in person is much much better, alot more fluent.

Should be a good World Cup, fairly even teams apart from New Zealand and the other bottom dwellers.

Australia always dangerous but can't go past SA or India.

Australia has done very well in the World Cup though but I don't think they stand a chance.

Its going to either Pakistan or SL winning the cup.
