If you're playing a serious game, then I think it could be a sport. But I never play serious. I just play for fun and I don't care about winning or not, I'm just having a good time. I like to play the best when I drink a little bit...It makes it more interesting!!! HAHAHA!!!
Let's see ... billiards requires a knowledge of rules, a deft touch, superior hand-eye coordination, strategy, tactics, analytical skills, mastered use of the tools of the game, and an ability to deal with some amount of uncertainty in the game, right?
There are plenty of video games that require all of these things. Yet I wouldn't exactly call gaming a sport.
Same goes for chess, with the exception of the hand-eye coordination thingy.
