IMO, Kansas deserves to have some sort of Major League team. I don't count the KC Wizards, since MLS isn't really that popular. I mean a team in the Big 4 Leagues. Any team. Population isn't much of a problem anymore. There's almost 2 million people in Wichita's TV market. I would prefer an NBA team, but it really doesn't matter what team we could get. Any team would be fine

Kansas already has major league sports teams - they play in Kansas City, MO. If the Kansas portion of the Kansas City metro area didn't exist, Kansas City wouldn't have any major league sports teams.

Wichita is not large enough to support major league sports. There are many metro areas that are larger than Wichita that don't have major league sports and aren't going to get major league sports teams. Also, the area that a Wichita team could draw from outside the Wichita area is sparsely populated.

You are right about the KC teams. But Wichita's TV market has about 1.5 million people, not 2 million. I was including the Topeka-Manhattn areas, which are apparently in the Omaha/Eastern Nebraska market.

Anyway, it's not as sparsely populated as you would think (well, some areas). The three most populated counties in Southwest Kansas (Finney, Ford, and Seward) have a population of more than 100,000 combined, are growing every year, and are in the Wichita TV market. The Salina area is also growing in population and has more than 60,000 people in the micropolitan area, and is also in the Wichita market. Eventually, Wichita will get a Major League team. Not for the next few decades, but it will.

Topeka to Kansas City --- 63 miles, less than an hour drive

Topeka to Wichita --- 139 miles, more than double the distance

You have to be kidding with this garbage.

How about this:

Topeka to Kansas City --- 63 miles, less than an hour drive

Topeka to Wichita --- 139 miles, more than double the distance

Trying to put Topeka into the Wichita market violates all laws of logic.

Topeka/Manhattan market really stands alone. If you were to put it anywhere, it would be Kansas City. It's similar to the Pittsburg/Joplin market. It's small, but it stands alone.
