My Husband and I may possibly be relocating to Springfield in a few weeks depending on job wise.

I am the type of person I like to look up the town before we go and what not.

I was wondering are there any bad neighborhoods there or apartments that are in safe neighborhoods?

We also have 2 children so safety is my main priority.

I also want to be near shopping and such, but being in the country doesn't bother me at all. So if there's apartments in the country, I don't want it to be more than 20 mins from town.

Also can you give the zip codes that are the safe neighborhoods for when I look apartments up.

Thanks in advance.

65714 and 65721 Nixa and Ozark both have good schools and safe. 99% of Springfield is great, so look away, and then google streetview the address. downtown, and along the freeways (44 and 65) have some poor units and struggling neighborhoods, but as always there are exceptions to the rule.

Hi - I made up a map of Springfield with "relative" housing price-ranges color-coded, mostly just gleaned from personal observation while driving around. Translate as you will (use Google street view for another perspective) ... one thing - the yellow area is also where most of the college students seem to live and play so depending on your preferences and age this might be a good thing or a bad thing. The pic is in my profile picture area but I'm not sure how to translate that here - they gave me a link to the pic so I'll post it here. Oh yeah, the blue spot in the middle is the Cox medical "compound".
