As far as humidity I worked in a Bakery for years, the Health Department took my Exaust Fan out so all I had was a Pedastal Fan.Where I worked they would push the Hot Pans out of the Oven under me.

Well it would get 135 degrees up there, soaking wet all the time, get Flour and grease on you from working, have little Dough Balls on you, work for 12 plus hours like this.

You can't explain just how Bad it is.

Oh, I dunno. I think you did a pretty good job of it.

I don't know about you guys, y'all sound like a bunch of pansies.

Just kidding. I did not find it any more unbearable then the 110 degrees in CA. Or weeks of 105. This summer here was hotter than the last three that I went through, but I still did not get the sweating, or the un-breathable air. I keep telling spaniel girl that I must not know what humidity is. (I do, but I have not experience it here, I have in Georgia).

When it is hot, I say it is hot, doesn't matter if it is AZ 115 or CA 110 or Ozarks 93; 104 with the index. Hot is hot.

I just go jump in the river.

I don't think it's that extreme here either. I have lived on the east coast and I can't say it feels any more humid here. I suppose that folks from a dry climate might find it so.

I'm in A/C 95% of the time so it's no big deal for me.

I'm outdoors as much as I can with the yard work and the dogs and I definitely feel the humidity although sure when I spend the day indoors in front of the air it's comfy as anywhere. I did spend some time in a very dry climate (west coast) and I barely ever broke out in a sweat even out digging or weeding in the hot sun but here I sure do.

The only time the heat/humidity bothers me is on those summer nights that it never cools down and becomes even more humid than it was durning the day. That happed often this summer with all the rain we had.

If anyone recalls the cold/cough remedy of placing one's head over a bowl of just boiled water and making a tent with a towel to breath in and break up the congestion.....that is what I liken it to.

This summer I turned my water heater completely down and bathed in water the same temp as came straight out of the pipes (no a/c). Keeping the house closed up during the day helped it stay about 15 degrees cooler than it was outside.

Our bedrooms are upstairs and there is no attic ventilation in this old house so the upper floor stayed pretty hot even running th air unit we have upstairs. I've got ventilation on my to do list but it's not first in line unfortunately because there is a lot of other things more pressing. I love the house though, I've wanted something like this since I was a kid so I don't have any complaints, just lots of upcoming work lol.

I love the summer here because it feels like real summer as opposed to where we moved from.

It does indeed and reminds me of summers spent in AL, NC and VA as a child, the first two before air conditioning was available. In fact, having four real, discernable seasons is one of the reasons we moved here after 30 some years on the left coast.

I went on a two week road trip this summer and spent some time in different cities in Missouri. I just HAVE to say, Missourians are the most pleasant people I have ever encountered! WOW, was I ever impressed.

The weather in SW Missouri isn't perfect (according to my definition) but it is definitely liveable and I've seen worse winters and worse summers in other states so Springfield is kind of in the middle for me. If you want 4 seasons this region offers all 4 without most of the extremes.
