We'll be making our yearly, meandering trek down to Texas next month, and I like to eat my way down-- to Texas, that is. I noticed recently that a branch of Doe's Eat Place had opened in Springfield. Have any of you guys eaten there? What's it like, especially at lunch? I've eaten at the original in Mississippi and it was worth a detour-- really good steaks, but it the ambiance, or lack thereof, that made it worthwhile. I don't expect a world-class experience, just a good meal.

Default Doe's

I haven't personally eaten there YET...but I have friends that have tried it
a few times. They say it's basically the same as the other Doe's establishments (it's a small chain). Huge steaks, big portions, tamales are a draw. It's in sort of a strange place off Trafficway, and doesn't look like
it has a lot of ambiance. At lunch the parking lot has been pretty full (but it's a strange parking lot too). Have fun eating your way south.

Its been open for a few years, and as mrsc states the servingss are evidently quite large. Might check out Doe's Eat Place - Springfield | Urbanspoon for the reviews & ratings, and also for other places that may interest you on your travels.

We don't usually eat at "normal" times and they are closed between 2 - 4 pm which is when we usually eat, so we have not had the chance to eat there yet, although we have tried to three or four times. LOL
