We are interested in knowing the same thing. We liked Willard but we have a son that loves playing football and Willard isn't making any strides in football. I don't know if he would fit in there.

I am 55 years old and went to high school here. When I went to school, Glendale was number one, Kickapoo was being built my freshman year and we were on a split school schedule with the Kickapoo freshman class. Because of that the SE section of Springfield is a nice area, but Kickapoo is now the number one, Glendale us probably no 2. Central has always been the roughest school in Springfield, but is improving. Springfield can only grow West it North. The Northside is probably the most diverse area, but has some bad areas. Republic, Logan Rogersville, Ozark all have decent schools. Nixa was the fastest growing area until the real estate market fell. In Soringfield itself, there is a very nice development called Emerald Park that is pretty posh, my folks used to live there. But a there are many pockets of nice homes. The old money here is rather spread out, many have land outside the city such as Rogersville, this is not a cut and dry question you are asking here. So, your question has been answered, and there are many opinions on the subject. There are poor areas next to nice areas, it's the way the city expanded.

The Willard school district is one of the most academically successful public schools in the state of Missouri. If you really value a short commute to downtown or the south side, living west of West By-Pass, North of Sunshine, and along extreme western Kearny will usually get you into Willard Schools along with living inside of Springfield city limits, if not a mile outside of it. Bear in mind, you will have to make - at least, meaning you live in the apartments on the most northwestern side of Springfield - a 10 minute commute to school. This usually deters my parents from picking me up from sporting events in Willard and encourages them to get me a car sooner :P Hope this helped ^^

all three high schools are pretty good, but if diverse is your thing, central or parkview. I'd choose parkview of the two hands down.

republic, nixa and ozark will generally have better schools, but individual schools in springfield vary quite a bit, from amazing good to fair.

if academics is the 1st priority, ozark, republic or nixa, if atmosphere and small town values, republic or clever

there are only 4 blue ribbon high schools in Missouri, the only two near Springfield are Nixa and Spokane (very small district and school)
