Did Branson get a lot of flooding? Heard the downtown was under water.

Default Thanks

Thank you. I do see that now and probably will go ahead and schedule that eye exam as you've so sweetly suggested.

Ok, that was overly snarky of me...my apologies.

Due to its centralized position within the 48 contiguous states Branson would be advised to make itself THE destination for reunions of all types. Any convention or meeting or ANY gathering of far-flung folks that benefits from a central location could look to Branson to fill their needs.

Also advisable is to cull the area of the drug-addicted and criminal elements. The soft approach has failed. Needed are county labor farms where the element that will never fit in with civil society can be kept for their own protection and, far more importantly, the protection of civil, decent folks who must never be forced to tolerate what is the intolerable.

Idea: they can put a sign saying "Arbeit macht frei" over the entrance...just so no one can mistake them for what they would be...

Interesting bump of a 7 year old thread.

Regardless, how is Branson doing now that the economy is back roaring again?

"The economy" is doing no such thing. Wages are flat. Farmers are under pressure from Trump's stupid trade wars. We have lost 1000s of jobs due to relocations and layoffs.

Can you provide your sources for this assertion? We love SW MO and have been considering relocating there for a while.....as such are always looking to gather info on the area....especially from locals. I'm in healthcare. Thanks!

Wages are most certainly rising in SW MO. Unemployment is very low. New jobs are becoming available as other jobs are disappearing - as always.

Here are the US Dept. of Labor statistics for Joplin:
https://www.bls.gov/eag/eag.mo_joplin_msa.htm

And for Springfield, Mo.:
https://www.bls.gov/eag/eag.mo_springfield_msa.htm

Note that there are provisions on these pages for historical data. However, they show unemployment rates to be about 3.0 to 3.5% for the current calendar year.

Again, from the US Dept. of Labor:
https://www.bls.gov/regions/mountain...s_missouri.htm

If you do not care to read it all, here is the relevant extract:
"Average weekly wages in each of the seven large counties in Missouri increased from the third quarter 2017 to the third quarter 2018, with the gains in three counties exceeding the 3.3-percent national increase. Greene County had the largest over-the-year wage increase among the state’s large counties, up 6.1 percent. St. Louis City ($1,118) and St. Louis County ($1,083) had the highest average weekly wages among Missouri’s large counties and were above the national average of $1,055."

While this does not address the specific question of Branson, Mo., it does give a good overview of the SW Mo. area.

Note: These web pages likely have a short shelf life and are specifically for the 2019 time period.
