We moved here from California so that he could play in two of the shows but they have since closed and he has the time to devote to his music if we can just find some professional musicians for him to perform with.

My husband has been a musician since about 1963 and plays woodwinds, has repaired band instruments since 1973 with a full repair shop here and recording studio.

No networking, no work. Most of the residents, players and artists know each other and help one another out. You don't just walk into Branson, say here I am and expect people to rush up with ready-to-sign contracts.

Voice of Choice, what were your back up plans?

Sounds like the back-up plan failed too.

woodwinds? I think I figured out the problem. Here in Branson, you gotta play a GEE-TAR (or maybe a fiddle). You can't play... "Take this Job and Shove It" or "I was born a Coal Miner's Daughter" or "Chicken Fried" with woodwinds. Sounds like your honey needs to take it about 30 miles North to "da big city" to find someone on his level to play music with, I'm sorry to say.

That's true. Many of the performers in Branson are a "family" and they help each other in different ways. I have a cousin who sings in Branson. (I won't name names.) Last year when a member of his band had an accident that almost killed him, many of the other Branson performers chipped in and helped him with his medical bills. The band member also received some help from some very famous country singers who you hear on the radio everyday. He used to tour with these famous singers, and when they heard he needed help they opened their checkbooks too.

I dont recall seing woodwinds anywhere but perhaps they should learn a new instrument
or move to a bigger city with a symphony like kansas city. bigger cities have more possibilities

Lightbulb Musical Talents

Besides the varying types of music in Branson (yes, there is more than geetar playing)..
check out Springfield. They have a symphony, little theater, opera, and a few other musical
venues. Good luck.

Default they came they took they left by the back door

The good entertainers came to Branson, bulldozed the mountain tops to build their theatres and parking lots. But more was better and they kept building and kept paving and then they couldn't pay their bills to the locals so the chose to file bankruptcy and head back to California or Vegas. Just like most jewels, they turned Branson into a timeshare sales capital, a shopping mecca, ha ha, a parking lot, and stole the rich, cool, damp mist as it would slowly wind its way out of the hollows, glades, and creeks that feed Table Rock. Some of those "entertainers" ruined the lives of many hard working people, businesses', locals, and then there is the Royalty of the area. YES, the court jester KING Herschend. Because he believes that his choice of morality should be forced on everyone else just because he is very very wealthy from exploiting a million year old cave, does not think that gambling is appropriate for the Ozarks, like Rockaway Beach. No he would rather see those who choose to play the slots, to drive over the Oklahoma line and spend millions in our sister state. Power greed politics real estate morality immorality has left the Dixie Stampede as the only place to go to the races, and you cant even bet on them. Bill P
