We found the house we want to buy in Walnut Grove but I am concerned about Sacada bugs. I noticed the line of trees that runs along the property line. They are about 30 feet from the house. In the front yard we have 4 trees about 25 feet from the house. My husband tells me that in the summer they will be full and beautiful AND FULL OF SECADAS.

I'm a city girl. I can deal with killing a spider or two and have even seen a mouse in the cabinet, but I need to know about the secada bug. I understand they're common here but I've never seen one in person. The house on our corner has them and they are loud.

Do you get used to the noise?

Do they like all trees or certain types of trees?

Can I treat the tree or the ground to keep them away?

Will they come in the house?

1. To some extent, yes.

2. Not sure, but I've seen them in many different types of trees.

3. I don't think so.

4. I've never had a problem with them getting in my house.

They seem to come in cycles. Some years you'll see them everywhere and other years not so much. They're really not a big deal at all, just a bit annoying with the noise.

Hello tialia...I've lived here 14 years from CA.
The cicada is worse in some areas...in the beginning the noise drove me crazy...until it got too hot to sleep with the window open, anyway...

Check this out: Cicada Mania

They're a pretty amazing critter...I've never had one in the house.
