I read your post about Hot Springs. I really have to wonder where you get your info. Branson is where all the retirees go to listen to country music and hang out in their RVs. You really think there are 'gangs of New York' types out there beatin' people up? You really need to get out more.

If you like mainstream country music, you'll love Branson. I spent 3 days there in 1986 and I'll never go again. It's like Laughlin without the casinos. It's like a 6 Flags without the rides.

At the time, I was about 32 years old and I do believe I was the youngest one in the concert hall at some of those shows we went to. Branson was very popular with retirees. They brought them in by the busloads. The shows were very American and very patriotic. We went to 6 shows, 3 in the afternoon and 3 at night and seems like towards the end of each show the performer always sang some kind of patriotic American song. They laid the patriotism on pretty thick up there, to the point it's scripted and expected, and it seemed rehearsed and forced and generally not very genuine. Before the end of each show everybody would standing up and saluting the flag and praising America. Nothing against patriotism. I love this country as much as anybody, but I dont go to concerts looking for patriotism. I said back then this would be my last time in Branson. The country singers I liked didn't play in Branson anyway and I never had a reason to go back. In fact I've passed it by about 6 times driving through Southwest Missouri, and each time it was out of the question to stop in Branson. The countryside was scenic, though.

I never hear about that much crime in Branson. Then again in southern Missouri many of those people are probably packing anyways so if one were to target someone for robbery there is a decent change they will get ventilated. A lot of people carry down there.

The OP asked nothing about packing, a subject that obviously obsesses you since you manage to weave it into almost every post you make. Also, I believe you live in Florida and when you were in MO you lived in St. Louis.

Is there crime in Branson? Of course. Is it violent? Very, very rarely. Most of it is property crime and much of that is petty. I say this as someone who lives about 21 driving miles south of Branson, who shops and eats there regularly and whose doctors, optometrist, pharmacy, etc. are there.

For the record, I do have a CCW and rarely if ever exercise it in this area. As real old timers might have said, "I ain't askeered here!"

Will you renew your permit or carry permit less concealed when the new law goes into effect?

Yes I lived in St. Louis county and carried everywhere. Their ccw application process is to much easier in St. Lousi county than here in FL.

Renew since that provides reciprocity with many other states but I'm good for the next three years. If I lived in St. Louis or any number of other cities I'd likely carry as well, just as I do in other states.

As for Branson, pretty tame even during the tourist seasons (summer and Christmas) which returns this to the OP's question..

Branson is no worse than any other small town. The worst problem is meth heads who frequently break into cars and homes in the hopes of finding something worth pawning. I suggest for townies to have a good alarm system and people who live in the country a dog or two to deter these types of low lifes.
