My family and I just moved to this area a couple of months ago and I was hoping to get my 5 children involved in some local group activities before the new school year began. Does anyone know if there are any homeschooling associations or any homeschooling organizations offering children's activities around Highlandville, Nixa or Ozark? I already know about the ones in Springfield and Branson but I was hoping for something a little closer.

We are also looking for a local nondenominational church. We aren't comfortable in really big churches but aren't very interested in the really small ones that can't offer children's activities either. We really love the praise and worship and live band but the charasmatic ones don't correspond to our beliefs. Any suggestions?

Default Mo Homeschool

check this website...there are a few home school groups listed. If they aren't near your town/city, I'm sure they can direct you to something else.

Default Ozark

The Ozark Parks and Recreation Department offers a homeschool PE class. It's on Wednesdays from 2:00-3:30 PM and runs for 8 weeks.

It starts on September 17 and goes until October 22. Cost is $25.00 per child.

For more information, call the park office at 417-581-7002.

Im surprised no one has mentioned swmohe. They have a yahoo group and send out a daily email digest. Swmohe stands for Southwest Missouri Home Educators. Get on the list and you can ask all kinds of questions. Springfield is very homeschool friendly. There is a homeschool choir, homeschool orchestra, homeschool athletic teams, you name it. There is also a homeschool field trip organization. Check out shemonline for info as well. They have a homeschool convention here every year, there is the sac lending library for homeschool curriculum. The library here carries a lot of books for programs like Sonlight. There is a ton of support for homeschooling in this area.

I am curious about the groups in Branson? We just moved back here to the area, but I can't find anything that gives me actual info about the homeschool groups in Branson. I would like to be able to connect with some other homeschoolers, but there is zero information on Google...
