This is my potential situation. Job in Ridgedale, but want to live somewhere with "good" schools. Are the Branson schools "good enough," or are Ozark schools "better enough" to live up there? I'm coming from a very congested traffic area - would love a shorter commute, but don't want to make it horrible. Would Ozark to Ridgedale be horrible? Would it be affected by seasonal traffic in Branson? Thanks

Drive time will vary a good deal by exact location of your house and job, but expect 40 minutes at a minimum. There will be seasonal and event related traffic issues that could take that beyond an hour at times, but seldom on week days.

There are other school districts you may wish to investigate. I am not recommending any due to personal ignorance, but Branson West, Blue Eye, Reeds Springs, Forsyth, Nixa, and Spokane come to mind. There are probably others.

They would have to be paying me a fortune to make that drive. Hollister schools aren't bad.

LOL, yea I get that. Coming from 1 1/2 hour commute each way so my perception is skewed!

Hi Timetofly...

I live and work in Hollister and have heard great things about the Hollister Schools (which is where the Ridgedale kids go). Smaller class size, great caring teachers. I suggest you make appointments to visit the schools and let them give you their sales pitch. You can tell a lot about how you'll fit in.

When we moved to the Ozarks from CA, I was comfortable with a commute. Once I'd been here for a while not so much. And in this area, it's not just about the distance. 65 is a great freeway but it has some of the steepest climbs in the U.S. making it a lot more exhausting to drive.

Live near work, my opinion.
