I am just looking at the Branson area because the lake front living outside of Branson looks very appealing. However, I keep reading that Branson has VERY high crime (like one of the highest crime rates in the US). For those living near or in Branson, do you agree with this or are these articles bogus?

Thanks for the help,

Ryan

I don't live there but I've never felt unsafe when visiting. Only thing that I've noticed in the last few years is the uptick in homeless wandering around.

I've been here 3 years and I feel pretty safe. There is crime everywhere but I wouldn't say Branson is in the top.

Where in the world would you hear that? I have lived in several states through the years and spent 2 in Branson, MO. It was by far the safest city I ever lived in. I have been wanting to move back, partly because I feel it is/was a super safe place to live. I am in Las Vegas now where crime seems to double year over year. If you live in a weekly on the strip or cheap apartment I guess you will see crimes.

We go to Branson every summer on vacation. We've never felt the slightest threat or seen any indication of crime. Compared to our home city of Houston, TX, Branson seems like Mayberry!
