I have family in Springfield and am contemplating a move there sooner than later.

I know there are about 80 hotels there in the area, but about 30% seem like little dinky places. I've worked in slightly larger, midsize Courtyard type properties in management.

Does anyone from that area know about hotel management jobs in Springfield? I know this virus stuff has everything at a standstill, but are there generally management jobs available or do people get in a job and sit in it for 20 years?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Although I cannot offer any info re the ease of advancement, I would recommend you look at Branson too. Its not far from Springfield and has more tourists.

In all honesty springfield is not the place to come for a job in hotel mgmt. Branson is. Springfield is a place to retire, a place to find a reasonably priced home if you have a job lined up here already. Cost of living is still relatively cheap here but people dont vacation here. Go to Branson and there are so many tourist related job opportunities. All the best.

We just got back from a vacation at Big Cedar Lodge and they had signs up for a career fair. I think they are staffing up after the covid shutdown. Big Cedar is about the nicest place in the whole region.

Hotels for the region would either be north of Springfield at the Lake of the Ozarks area or south in Branson. Both are vacation spots and would be more in line for a professional in Hotel Management. However, both suffer from seasonal influxes of traffic and are subject to very slow periods in the off-season.

Rock bottom pay. Go to college and get a Nursing degree and have your significant other do the same. That's the only chance you have in that place.
