If you want to pick Springfield, I'd highly suggest the southern part of the city as the northern part is more rundown. Nixa is also a popular suburb with good shops, good schools, and decent scenery. You might consider Ozark, too, based on your preferences. Around the Joplin area, Carl Junction and Webb City might be to your liking as well. I lived in Joplin from 2001-2016 and Springfield from 2016-present. I've also been a substitute teacher in a number of nearby districts, so I have some familiarity with a number of surrounding areas.

Khendra, In spite of your familiarity with the near north side areas north of I-44 are less crowded, just as affluent, lower on taxes and more accessible than any other part of the city. It's closer to the lakes, less developed and a relatively unknown part of the city (and outside it's limits with the 65803 zip code).

To the OP; nothing will replace your feet on the ground and ability to see how certain areas function from a first person perspective.
