It has always puzzled me why people move here because they like it, and then try to change it to be like the place they moved FROM! LOL

Oh but they just want to make it better, don'tcha see. Show us poor, dumb hillbillys how things really should be done.

I think it's just because people like the place but not EVERYTHING about the place. Haven't you been to a place and thought, "this place would be perfect if they had a coffee shop/mall/Dunkin Donuts/whatever? I know I have.

Also, don't people still carry their past experiences with them? I know I do. Just because I moved to Springfield, which is supposed to be conservative both politically and religiously, I am still the same old liberal I've always been. Not trying to remake the place, but also not going to abandon my beliefs and ideas and become a Stepford wife or anything like that.

But I do like it and am happy here. If my presence dillutes the original ethos of the place, sorry, but that's how places grow. People come in from outside. Hopefully they come in with an attitude of respect for the place, rather than "lets teach these hillbillies how to do it"...

I hope I'm making myself understood here, I feel like this is clear as mud. I guess the point is, new people are going to come in, and have different ideas. That does change the character of a place, but the alternative is to stagnate and die.

IMO, of course.
