HELP!

I have to move (furniture, and all) from Springfield to Kansas City. I've never had to do this myself before.
Any ideas on
1. the cheapest, most dependable people to hire
2. Pitfalls to avoid
3. Movers to avoid

Please save me from myself and what my daughter calls my "too nice" personality. Frankly, the issue might be that she's a piranha...

The two things I can tell you is
Do NOT do it yourself if you are not accustomed to pulling heavy loads with your vehicle especailly in ice or snow. People get killed doing this every day.

IF you do not have a full trailor for a moving company, you risk breakage and a lot of it because these other dealers throw on furniture from other customers. Buy insurance and a lot of it. Do not assume nothing will break; it will and they will try to weasel out of paying you one cent.. Full coverage helps a lot.

If you' don't have a full trailor 5-6 bedrooms and appliances, find a local hauler with a straight truck. It will cost as much money, but the odds of your stuff getting there undamaged is better.

Been there done that.

Please go to Moving: How to avoid Moving Company Scams, they will help you find a mover that is reputable. I can tell you from experience that finding a reputable mover is not always easy. That web site was designed to help people just like you to avoid scams. When you read all the horror stories you will understand!
