This is driving me bonkers. I really want to know. Are they using one each on two different cars? What is up with this? Is it the sheep mentality of "he's doing it!" ? Maybe the city could beef up their financial shortfalls with all the ticket revenue this would bring in if they would enforce the law. Cuz there's lots of 'em to bust here. Sit and watch while you're in traffic if you doubt.

Tell them if they don't stop it, you're going to call their mothers and report their bad behavior.

Bye bye, now.

Maybe it's a passive-aggressive method of civil disobedience. Maybe there's not a good place to put the plate on the front. I owned some cars like that. Anyway, why would the cops care? They're only checking my license plate when they're chasing me anyway, unless I'm driving in reverse.

I have never noticed this; are you sure they are MO residents, you checked the front and back of the cars? Because there are plenty of folks that come over from KS and they will only have 1 plate.

What are you seeing them on? Trucks over a certain gross vehicle weight are not required to have a rear license plate in Missouri. Most 3/4 ton and up pickups qualify. I'm not sure why, but I always guessed it was because license plates tend to get beat up pretty bad if you pull a lot of trailers using a bumper hitch, as the trailer's hitch often slams into the plate. Or maybe they assume that you'll usually be pulling a trailer most of the time, and the plate won't be seen anyway.

Most of the states that border Missouri, including Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Iowa, Kentucky, and Tennessee, require only a rear plate. I'm not sure about Nebraska. Illinois requires 2 plates. You'll see a lot of Arkansas and a fair number of Kansas and Oklahoma plates in Springfield, so this may also add to seeing many cars without front license plates.

me, I would love it if front plates were not required - takes away from the aesthetics of vehicles, esp. cars.

Well the one license plate thingy is a pretty darned scandalous affair if ya ask me. In fact one wonders why someone hasn't developed and marketed to our benevolent government agencies some kinda roadside camera to nail these rotten to the core scofflaws to the wall for this insidious transgression. I'll tell ya, where are those good old iron fisted commie-regime-authoritative-totalitarian governmental enforcers with baseball bats in their hands (whew, had to take a breath there) when ya need em? Damn slackers!!
