We plan to move to Missouri in a few years after retirement. I lived there before around the Dallas County/Hickory County area. What are some other nice small towns that are north of Springfield, but in the SW area? Would like to be fairly close to Bolivar or Springfield.

Stockton is a nice little town, I'd guess around 2,000 in population. You'd be right on or very near Stockton lake. Crime is very low. Has a grocery store, 2 doctor's offices, dentist, cute little town square, a few nice places to eat plus a Sonic if you want junk food. It's about halfway between Bolivar and El Dorado Springs, both of which have hospitals, and of course Bolivar has a Walmart and more shopping, doctor's offices, etc.

Willard is a very nice smaller town that is large enough to have a doctor, vet and grocery store as well as other conveniences. It isn't that far from Springfield, the airport or Walmart - its only 10 -12 miles depending on your destination. I lived in Ash Grove, worked in Walnnut Grove, and spent all my time in Willard. At the end of two years I knew more people in Willard than I did the other two towns put together. LOL. Good town, good people, great choice.

Very good point, I thought of that too after I answered. I thought to myself, there are so many beautiful areas between Clinton and Springfield, if you are looking for country living and don't want to live "in-town."
