I an wondering about living in Springfield... are there better areas than others? Is the whole place bad?

I have 6 kids (16,14,13,10,10,4) and want to be near community centers, movies, parks, museums, ect... We homeschool, so I am not worried about the schools. My oldest 3 will be attending a junior college. I live and love rural now, but the gas prices in CA are killing us!

We want a safe neighborhood and a large house. I see older homes in Springfield, some in great shape and some fixer-uppers and don't know if they are in a good area. We don't mind a fixer-upper. My DH is probably getting a job near the 44 and 65 FWY. Thanks!

You might consider Strafford or the areas of Springfield north of I-44.

In my opinion, NW Springfield in the City is an area I would stay away from at this point. Go North of sprinfield north of Kearney St or East of Booneville and you should be ok. Still you can look in Central Springfield and find something good but prices generally rise. Strafford like Ozarks21 mentioned is good and is about 10 miles east of Springfield is a small town but close to Spfld and work. Finding an old beg house may be the challenge though.
In Springfield, there is Community centers on the ne side of sprinfield called Doling Park and Springfield is filled with Parks. Also one on the SW side of town.
