I will be making a fact finding trip to Ozark,Nixa Clever area in the spring of 2010. I am going to be looking at real estate but not buying for a little while (1 year to 1.5 years). I am not sure of where I want to buy for sure,so I would like to rent a house or duplex. The dog is a Malamute, very gentle and very friendly. I have not found any rentals that accept large dogs. Any ideas or names?

There is a lady in Springfield who owns rental properties in the springfield/Branson area. Her name is Su Estes and she's in the phone book. She's also the President of the Animal Abuse Counsel so I know she is animal friendly and she definitely lets her renters keep animals.

Hope this info is helpful.

Try Metro Housing on S. Glenstone - I haven't got the book at hand but they are in the phone book. Tell them what you need.

As one who was once in the rental business, I can tell you from personal experience that a dog can do damage to a property that dwarfs the rental paid. Many owners would rather keep a place empty than rent to a dog or cat owner. That said, the rental market is terrible right now, and you may find landlords to be more flexible than they would prefer.

Also, check suburban areas. I have found most landlords in rural areas will take pets as a matter of course.
