My wife and I are thinking about semi retiring in the Cedar City area. What would be good part-time jobs and what do they generally pay? What is healthcare like in Utah? Are there any small business opportunities in that area? We are not religious but also don't really care if others are. We are pretty flexible and easy going people. Let's hear it!

Cedar City is generally a low wage area. Since the University population is a large part of the city's population, you're up against many seeking part time employment. I brought my own small business when I moved here 15 or so years ago.

Walmart and other retail, restaurant work etc. is readily available.

There is a ton of multi level marketing "opportunity" in Utah, but I wouldn't suggest getting in to those.

I would not move here if I was job reliant and didn't already have something lined up unless a relatively low wage job would suffice. The cost of living here is still relatively low but is escalating rapidly- particularly the cost of housing- in part due to University demand.

Healthcare in Cedar City is mostly through Intermountain. They run urgent care centers as well as the hospital. When we have needed it, help was available. Intermountain does sell insurance plans too, so the providers are part of the same system.
