I never read those CNN Best Places to Live things, and now I know why. In regards to St. Peters: "This town is older and more established than some of its neighbors. That gives the place character — and makes many houses more affordable."

If by character, they mean 70s-era split levels then I agree. No one moves to St. Peters for character.

Hahaha I was going to say the same exact thing. My friend who bought in St Peters is the kind that's concerned his house is a whopping 10 years old and not brand new.

There are definitely a lot of people out there like that (in every exurb really). I grew up in what CNN considers the older area -- our house was built in '76 and I can tell you it's an awful lot more walkable than a lot of newer suburbs. As a kid I could ride my bike or walk to the pool, to a Quiktrip, Schnucks and Walgreens, and to a couple of fast food places, so all in all it's not a terrible place to be a kid.

I just found it boring as a teenager and now find it God-awful dull as an adult.

Sorry for being such a snob guys. You could have just said it to my face instead of beating around the bush.

I would if I could. The people I have met and seen in Clayton look and act like a central casting call for country club snobs (Thurston and Lovey Howell, Judge Smails)

Arguing with you is an exercise in futility, clearly, but all I can say is if that is truly the case then you either have not met many Claytonians (Claytonites? Clayton-ers? haha) or you have very low standards for considering someone snobby.

Is it all about dress?

I live in Newport Beach. The locals here ("the OC" to all you rubes) could not hold a candle to the snobitude that I have seen in Clayton/Ladue

I can only imagine how awful one would have to be for "DinsdalePirahna" to consider them to be a snob. He's quite possibly the most stuck up person on this board and carries an enormous "holier than thou" attitude with each sentence. If only he could appreciate the irony of calling us all rubes while at the same time calling people in Clayton/Ladue snobs, then he'd probably be shamed into creating a new online persona.

rube may be a bad choice of words. but in case you ever make it out here, never call orange county "the OC" its a good way to be branded as a tourist.

And yes, Clayton is the snobbiest city i have ever visited, although East Hampton, NY is a very close second.
