I've lived in St Louis all my life and love it here! I have a friend visiting from England for 2 weeks, and am trying to think of things to do. I know there are the usual places..... Arch, Botanical Gardens, Science Center, Union Station, etc. I also plan on going to a Blues game and possibly a haunted house. Any ideas on unique places to go? I'm on a limited budget, so trying not to spend too much, but still have fun. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

I visited Cahokia while I was traveling through the St. Louis area. My friend thought it was boring but I loved it and the museum was really cool too plus its free. And it's a UN World Heritage Site.

And they have "woodhenge" which supposedly resembles Stonehenge. Your friend might find that interesting/amusing :0

Will they be bringing kids? If so, what ages?

Nope, no kids. It'll just be the two of us.

As usual there are several free or cheap festivals going on this weekend. I'd be sure to show this person around town so they can get a feel for the area. I know if I was in a european city, i'd enjoy getting the tour.

^^True story! Street fests and what not really show off the character of a city. I always look for those kinds of activities when I travel. I'm simply not that interested in most museums unless they are truly world class or unique -- I'd skip the Science Center if there's no kids -- or big landmarks like Union Station. It's gorgeous from the outside and worth a drive by, but the mall inside? I'd skip it. I've been to plenty of malls.

And honestly even the arch. Standing at it's base is an absolutely extraordinary feeling, but I've known very few people who weren't pretty disappointed with the view from the top. Looking through those tiny little windows isn't as cool as you'd think. Except during the '93 flood. That was insane.

Do they like football? The groupon side deal today is Rams tickets for half price for 10/3 or 10/17.
