I've checked hampton gardens, heather ridge apartments, kings landing apartments, mcknight crossing, allegro at the boulevard, and camden westchase on website. All is under $1000 per month. Hampton gardens has narrow steps. Mcknight carossing looks dark in evening, seems not many people live in there. Just new to this city and must got the living place settle down these two days. Please help to find which is the better safe place and which has the good neighborhoods. Thanks guys

McKnight Crossing is a very safe area, but it's an odd place for apartments and I can see why it feels far removed. I haven't been to the Allegro, but if it's in the Boulevard it's safe and has easy access to both public transit and highways.

If you don't want to live in a large complex, there are many options available in safe city neighborhoods and inner-ring suburbs at that price point on Craigslist. I always prefer having a small building with a small-time landlord personally anyway. Check some out!

There are plenty of great apts both downtown, in the central west end, and in clayton at that price point. All of those areas would be much more fun in my opinion.

I have tried clayton but no suitable floorplan. CWE, around forest park, the price is over $1000 a month. I mean the one with garage.

Just wondering why there is little lights in McKnight Crossing at around 8:30PM. I went there to check the surroundings in the evening and dared not go any further.

How about the suburbs? Or are you searching within the city specifically?

The area around McKnight Crossing is located in an extremely safe area of St. Louis County (Rock Hill/Brentwood). Some of the streets off McKnight are very dark, just because residents like it that way. We live off McKnight further north and our streets have no street lights and are very dark indeed (visitors unfamiliar with our curvy streets get lost quite easily!). Just because an area is dark does not mean it is dangerous by any means.

It's a sleepy suburb. I really don't understand what you mean.

McKnight Crossing? That's where the hardcore thugs be roamin'.

I would feel horrible if that were taken seriously, so I'll include the disclaimer that the area is completely safe. Don't know how it could give a bad vibe.

Seriously, all the little ones walk up Kortwright to elementary school every day in Rock Hill. Not exactly hardcore ghetto.
