Arthur Bryant's in KC was ranked # 4, aragx6. Have you ever dined there? Someone I know in New Mexico told me it was the best bbq he's ever had.

^ I haven't been to Arthur Bryant's yet. Everyone has a favorite, and in the couple of years I've been here we've mostly gone to Oklahoma Joe's, which is delicious. Their sauce blows my mind. It wasn't until I moved to KC that I had truly delcicious ribs -- seems so many are that soggy fall-off-the-bone style and I like 'em so much better when the fat is rendered and you can take a bite right off the bone. Like magic! I'm always afraid to order them in restaurants, but a colleague of mine competes every year in the American Royal BBQ competition and his ribs were outta this world.

My wife always gets giddy for Burnt Ends out in KC...think it was her favorite BBQ there...and even during my short stint there, and all the time spent there through college I never tried Arthur Bryants either...we used to hit a local place called Bob Be-Que in Mission at Lamar and Johnson Drive...was a pretty tasty place should give it a try Arag

Memphis BBQ is just so much better than everywhere else's that they didn't even want to compare it on this list

First, the quality of ANY BBQ JOINT depends on when you show up. I have been at some of the best places atthe end of the night and the meat was pretty poor. Get there at the beginning of the day, the food might have been pretty good.

Personally, the food at Arthur Bryants was pretty disappointing the day I was there. I got there early on a Sunday afternoon and much of the meat was dry and tasted like it was cooked the night before. The guy who took me there, a Rockhurst graduate, apologized for the quality of the food. Personally, I would go to the Smokestack or Oklahoma Joe's first.

I am glad I went there, however. When we left the restaurant, we found the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum and the American Jazz Museum, which were the high points of our visit to KC.

I've had food from Pappy's three different times, and was not impressed.
